Discussion:
Informix error -25573 Network Driver cannot accept a connection on the port
(too old to reply)

I'm having problems connecting to IDS 11.5 on my Vista Business SP1
machine. I downloaded the developers evaluation from the IIUG and
installed it (selecting to run it under user informix rather than a
system account). I think I took all the defaults (including no to role
separation). The default instance (called "vaio") runs (though I've
got a further question about that for later) OK and I can run dbaccess
and also connect to it using ODBC on the local machine and the ilogin
demo works as well from the local machine. The entry in the services
file is infx_vaio 9088/tcp

However I can't connect to it from another machine on the network and
I'm getting the following message in vaio.log

Informix error -25573 Network driver cannot accept a connection on the
port

I've searched for more info but can't find anything so I throw myself
on your mercy. Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Do you have any kind of firewall? I suppose the message is all you get? It
doesn't mention a system error number?
If you run a "netstat -an" the port is listening...?

Hi Fernando, thanks for replying.

I don't get any system error numbers.

Yes the port is flagged as LISTENING.

I have a McAfee firewall which is configure to allow 9088 through and
I have turned it off altogether as well, the Vista Firewall is off. Of
course that doesn't mean it isn't a problem with the firewall as I
can't be sure it's not interfering in some way as the Windows security
centre thinks the McAfee firewall is still running. The McAfee
firewall also block programs that make outgoing calls to ports but it
does prompt you and allows you to select block or allow. I've allowed
everything.
Someone else suggested I turn of User Access Control which I have done
for the informix user and also the regular user I run dbaccess/server
studio under. However it didn't make any difference.

I'll try uninstalling McAfee.

All the best,

R

Try to look if don't have another job running on the same port.
See also your network definitions, are you using DHCP or fix address.

I hope it helps

I suggest you contact tech support.
If that is not possible please paste the online.log (just a bit with the error)

Hi,

Can you connect your port via telnet ?
ie)
telnet your_host port_number.

If you faced reject from server, sounds likelistening port is against localhost...
Check your hosts file and change hostname to ipaddress of sqlhosts.

Regards.
